I've already seen the reaction. There will be no battle. MGTOW is simply written off as:

A result of rampant misogyny in society,
Unreachable men too ugly or socially awkward to worry about,
Damaged misfits who deserve to be alone.

However, once the MGTOW logic wakes up enough beta cucks and chads (perhaps openly using women as free prostitution) the female population will have to respond. How? Not by cleaning up slut culture, dismantling feminism, or finding a soul. No. I believe the female response will be a further social acceptance of the non-monogamous lifestyle (multiple women openly sharing one chad.)

Once they've had chad, they simply can't go back. There will be no self reflection. Just more openly sharing of the men who are already drowning in pussy and drama, and have had no MGTOW enlightenment.

The real clincher, as always, is the hidden and underlying social punishments, such as suggesting that single older men are all emotionally dysfunctional and/or pedophiles, which is already happening to a certain degree.

Next ten to twenty years are not going to be pretty.

MGTOW is a decentralized idea that is incapable of being quelled for good. However, that doesn't mean circumstances will be easy for those who choose to go their own way. Personally, I don't see outright violence against followers of MGTOW in the future. Increased shaming language is undoubtedly assured. Beyond that, whether society decides to incentivize coupling or impose further taxation is anyone's guess.

Key phrase there is "society at large" -- i.e. the majority of the population.

So called "society at large" does NOT become "aware" of anything... unless & until either:

(A) Some shit is shoved right into their face (repeatedly, incessantly) by the media ... cf the whole "transgender" bullshit (and prior to that gay marriage, prior to that AIDS, etc).*

OR...

(B) The phenom becomes SO large that it impacts their daily, PERSONAL interactions and affairs.

I think it HIGHLY unlikely that the mainstream media will EVER really highlight MGTOW -- instead what we will see is just more of the thing that we currently see: whining and complaining about "where have all the GOOD men gone" and diatribes about men "falling behind" etc. (while at the same time of course, continuing the attacks on "toxic" masculinity {i.e. masculinity in ANY form}).

We've already seen what happens when some aspect of the real "MGTOW" issues get raised -- via Milo Yiannopoulos' "Sexodus" article -- the media does everything it can to MIScharacterize and BURY the story; or again how the media has essentially "self-censored" any mention of the "Red Pill" documentary.

The very LAST thing the media want to do is make men "aware" of the option of "going their own way" and being able to CHOOSE to leave the proverbial "plantation."

Instead, if/when MGTOW is ever seen in the "news" -- expect it to be framed in much the same way as they have framed the Japanese Hikikomori (or "Herbivorre/Grass Eaters")... mischaracterizing and labeling/shaming men who follow it as "weak, adolescent, social misfits, etc."

As for the phenom getting SO LARGE that the population will see it as an issue -- despite a media "blackout" or "mis-characterization"...

First, I highly doubt it will ever reach that level.

Why? Well to begin with you have to remember that (from birth up to middle age {when "attrition" -- early death of more males -- levels out the disparity} there IS an excess of males -- biologically natural excess of anywhere from 1% to 5%; aka 101 to 105 males for every 100 females).

So first of all MGTOW needs to reach THAT level of the population -- i.e. the "excess" males need to either be MGTOW (i.e. "intentionally" removing themselves from the hetero dating pool; {or else "asexual" or "gay" [at a rate significantly HIGHER than the rate of female-lesbianism] or otherwise not interested in females to begin with}) -- and then expand even further.

The plain truth of the matter is that such a thing is HIGHLY unlikely... the mating behavior of most men -- the overwhelming majority -- have always been and likely always will be (alas, more's the pity) governed by their hormones and their "animalistic" urges: in short their DICK will overrule their brain, regardless of how "risky" or "dangerous" such behavior is likely to be to their long term welfare.

Moreover, even were it possible for some "philosophical movement" (or phenom) like MGTOW to "overcome" that -- at least temporarily (i.e. "monk mode") -- the reality is that human beings are social creatures; and the vast majority of men will simply NOT be capable of truly following an MGTOW path... not in the absence of a viable "social" substitute (like a monastic "brotherhood" order -- a think that is virtually impossible given our societies BLATANT hostility towars "male only" spaces/organizations -- not to mention the increasingly STRONG secular, atheistic, anti-theistic, anti-religious mindset of most men... some MGTOW "monastery" just AIN'T gonna happen).

The urge to "socialize" -- and indeed even just inability to live alone -- will ultimately drive the majority of men (in western nations anyway); men who might intellectually want to be MGTOW (but emotionally, socially, and psychologically be unable to practice it for long) ... right back to the proverbial plantation; again regardless of the risks.

* ALL of which were marginal/minority issues... each one an order of magnitude smaller than the one prior.

AIDS for example was never REALLY a major problem for heterosexuals in the US, it was chiefly a disease of intravenous drug users (chiefly heroine addicts), and extremely promiscuous homosexuals... total infected <1% of the population (and again largely from those subgroups)... total annual DEATHS from AIDS never even reached parity with auto-accident fatality levels.
Gay marriage -- plain truth of the matter is that MOST gays (and lesbians) really don't WANT to be "married" -- hard data is difficult to obtain on this, but apparently of the ~5% of the population that identifies as "gay/lesbian" only about ~5% of THEM (i.e. 0.25% or 1/4 of 1% of the population) actually get "married" (whether called that, or called some "civil partnership" whatever); and most of those don't (and are not likely to) last more than a few years (alas the "gay divorce" rate is even more obscure; and one can easily imagine is intentionally being obscured/obfuscated on purpose; given time, it will likely not only approach but significantly exceed the hetero divorce rate).
Finally the whole "transgender" thing -- even the broadest definition estimates (which presumably include "transvestitites {aka "cross dressing" w/o a desire to change genitalia}) put it at somewhere UNDER 1% of the overall population (highest estimate I've ever seen tags it at 0.6% or just over 1/3 of 1%) -- and again, THAT figure seems (to my mind) to be ridiculously, egregiously, exaggerated (it would mean somewhere over 1 MILLION "transgender" in the population. which is risible)... IMO that's being exaggerated by probably an order of magnitude (or more likely TWO orders of magnitude); statistics on people seeking information on "gender reassignment surgery" peg the number at more like 1 in 100,000 (and for the math challenged, that would be 0.001% or 1/1,000th of a single percentage of the population {1:100 = 1%, 1:1,000 = 0.1%, 1:10,000 = 0.01%, 1:100,000 = 0.001%} meaning ALL of this "hullaballo" is over ~3,500 people).

Of course those last numbers don't include the current feminist/lesbian "war on little boys" engaging in psycho-socio-logical "gender abuse" and creating/forcing little boys to wear dresses and otherwise purposefully indoctrinate them (including -- via psychotropic medications, etc -- during their vulnerable, highly impressionable "tender years") into gender confusion/dysphoria and a sort of Munchausen-like generation of "body dysmorphic disorder."

What will happen?
