"I'll marry when alimony no longer exists." (I prolly actually would, too, even if it was just a "Vegas marriage" for the tax breaks)

Funny thing is, after dropping that line, the male relatives were the ones who keep trying to convince me otherwise while every female relative immediately shut the hell up about it and started giving each other the look of "The boyim KNOWS"

I'm older and divorced now 10 years. Had many women since then but none worth keeping. I've been asked if I'll ever marry again and my pat response is; "Marriage is one of life's mistakes one should only make once".

I'm lucky in that I have very open-minded parents. They're traditionalists, but they also understand that whatever path their children choose is their choice.

For a time, more recently in the last year or so, my parents have been asking me about whether I'm looking to settle down with a woman. Being traditionalists, they don't see the world the way it is, rather the way they remember it to be when they were younger and in the position I'm in now. I ended up having to have a conversation with them a couple of months ago where I explained the reasons why I choose to remain single and have no desire to get married or get a girlfriend.

My mother was resistant at first, my dad listened quietly at everything I said, but in the end they both said that same thing... that I made a whole lot of sense.

They're sad that I'm not interested in settling down, but they also understand that, with the world in its current state, it's impossible to do so safely.

As for my brothers/sisters, I don't talk to them about shit cause they're assholes and I don't care to talk to them lol.

I tell mine that there are no good women anymore. I've watched how predatory most women are at work. Marry a coworker then divorce him a few years later and start over. No thanks. The divorce rate is too high especially for remarriage. People bring too much baggage they aren't dealing with into relationships. Then blame the other person for their problems after a few years and cash out.

Nothing is worse than being married to someone you love dearly and watch them drift away or become hostile towards you. BTDT. I also believe marriage is once and for life. So I'm done.
