What does it mean "can't afford"? For everyone it's different.
For some "can't afford" is not being able to provide food, for some it's "can give all the best to my kid".
Well, if it's "can't provide food and can't ask society to help", then yes, i agree.
But, if it's just about some luxury stuff, "keep up with Joneses" stuff, if it's "i'm too scared about future", etc, ... Then i don't agree.
As a human species, as animals we should make 2.3 babies (statistically). If i/you/him/her can't do it, then we are bad animals, loser animals.
Ofcourse, it's not always possible. But when it's possible, it's nice to see "challange accepted" attitude.
Civilization and society makes us fools. Don't be fooled by civilization to think "i can't do it", "i can't afford it". Sometimes, we need to fight and think creatively (for example, people from poor countries can try to immigrate to richer countries, etc...)
