I'm back in Japan for the third time and as usual the contrast between this place and my home in Canada is staggering. Japan does have its issues with gynocentrism as all developed countries do, but it's also unique in its prevalence of "herbivore men", the derogatory term for men who have opted out of full time work and relationships.

Having some decent experience here now, I can definitely see the attraction. Japan has almost all modern conveniences of the West with few of the downsides, the only ones being those you have to voluntarily engage in, such as marriage, which is why so many men opt out. Otherwise it's an exceptionally clean, safe country with rich history and amazing customer service. A perfect place to go your own way, if you can afford it. Strict immigration policies and high prices do make it a tougher destination to long term than say, Thailand, but if you can swing it, it's more than worth it.

I'll be trying to move here within the next few years. Domestic issues such as public debt and declining population don't concern me because I don't intend to become entwined with local politics or economics. I look at this place like a base of operations more than a permanent place of residence, and I think that works best because foreigners are rarely ever fully accepted and integrated here anyway.

As for the girls, they're AWALT, but they're also very entertaining. They still radiate a feminine charm and there's plenty of cutesy, anime-like culture to go around. As long as you avoid getting suckered into marriage, you can definitely enjoy some short term flings and enjoy the entertainment fields such as maid cafes where women would be considered "exploited" by their western feminist landwhale counterparts, but no such culture exists here to any notable level.

Overall this place has my highest recommendation, but only if you can avoid becoming consumed by the monotonous work culture. Essentially Japan is an excellent bastion for anyone with a non-centralized source of income and or a sizeable net worth. Otherwise, come here for some extended vacations and take a break from western degradation.
