Dignity and self respect are worth far more than all of the pussy in the world.

I have never had a girlfriend who was worth the effort, time, money, or energy that she demanded from me. Even the girls who were 9.9/10 and fantastic in bed were not worth the aggravation they caused. The constant shit-tests, game-playing, and well-camouflaged attempts to gain power in the relationship ruined any enjoyment I got out of the relationship.

Every girlfriend I have had has tried to:

Change me to fit their expectations and demands
Use me as an accessory to improve their social status
Use me to make their female friends jealous
Gain access to my money and resources
Convince me to "upgrade" everything in my life (car, residence, furniture, phone) in a stereotypical keeping up with the Jones manner.

Much better to GYOW and enjoy life as you see fit, and to be able to look in the mirror and feel proud that you aren't a slave to pussy.

Who am I kidding, we've all taken the other route at times, for whatever reason.

However, recently a psychotic ex called me repeatedly about 20 times at around 2am (on a weekday mind you). Thankfully my phone was on silent. This happened totally out of the blue, since we haven't heard from each other in years. I used to have a phone with "vanilla" Android for a while and blocking contacts seemed only possible with third-party software (which I hate) and deleting numbers is not an option either as I actually like to know who is bothering me. Suddenly realized I had a new phone, once I saw that native "block" button I hit that modafooka faster than Usain Bolt!!

On another note, for some people it's also easy to confuse empathy with compassion. Sometimes you refuse to 'delete' people from your life out of some sort of empathy and this often comes back to bite you in the ass. Strong philosophical foundations helps one to understand that compassion does not have to come at the detriment of one's own well-being and livelihood, especially when dealing with people that are destructive to themselves and others. Beyond these reasons, even the disturbance of one's valuable peace of mind itself is often not worth it. I'll admit it though, that small chuckle you mention is always entertaining.
