It’s a fun game, and we all should want to play it. It’s not particularly challenging, unless you get a bad roll at the very beginning. The early levels are easy and they get more challenging as you go on, but you get better at the game so it evens out.

Once you get out of the tutorial the game has a co-op option. It’s supposed to be a lot of fun and is heavily featured in the advertising. Some of the best stuff in the game can only be done in co-op mode. But there are some drawbacks.

One of the drawbacks is the game rules aren’t the same for Player 1 as they are for Player 2. Player 1 has to grind most of the XP. Player 1 is expected to main tank, heal and DPS. Player 2 can sort of do whatever they want, and they don’t have to be very good at their role.

Player 2 also has the option to start playing against Player 1 at any time. So if Player 1 has been clearing a dungeon for the past hour and finally pulled the last boss, Player 2 can, if they want, start attacking Player 1 and cause a wipe. The wipe is still considered Player 1’s fault on the scorecard.

Player 2 can report Player 1 to the GMs at any time for violating the game’s TOS. It doesn’t matter if Player 2 is telling the truth or not, the GMs are extremely unforgiving on TOS violations. Often times they will permaban Player 1 regardless of whether he violated the rules or not.

The queue for co-op is random for the most part. If there are 10 co-op partners in the queue, it’s likely that 3 of them could be decent partners. They will play their role, probably not turn on you in the middle of the boss fight, and it will work out. You’ll still have to do most of the work, but like I said there are some bonuses in the co-op mode you don’t get in single player. High role players can sometimes put together a premade, but even they still have problems due to how the game is structured.

For most players that the odds are against you that you’ll find a decent partner in co-op. 7 out of 10 are going to be absolute goons. They won’t know the rules and won’t care. They will DC or worse, intentionally cause a wipe at any time because they felt like it. And the GMs will almost always take their sides on a ticket. BTW 7 out of 10 are decent odds. If you were unlucky on your role at the start of the game the odds are more like 10/10.

Sound good? Preorder before May 1st and your co-op partner comes with one or several even more useless half-breed companions.
