A huge part of TRP is coming to grips with Oneitis and how to deal with it. This involves swallowing difficult truths such as solipsism, the hamster, female emotional maturity, the one-way flow of love (Father > Wife > Child), embracing abundance mentality, AWALT, etc.
Despite having this new found knowledge at your disposal, you’re able to identify when slips of Oneitis happen, often times unintentionally or unconsciously. The notion of the unicorn seems real again even if just for a moment. But then, you reach behind your neck, feel the cold metal with your fingertips, then immediately and unconsciously grab the bug, place it on the floor, and crush the motherfucker with an authoritative stomp. Crisis averted.
Yet, that feeling lingers slightly. Your logical mind is reminding you of all the truths that you know to be undeniable. It may even leave a tinge of guilt or cause some harsh internal dialogue within.
My theory is, what we call “Oneitis” today, because it seems so irrational to us in the modern context, is actually an evolutionary mechanism to increase the chance of your bloodline surviving generation after generation. Whether it’s instinctual or emotional, or one leads to another, it doesn’t matter. The fact that it may be a more primal phenomenon can possibly help internalize the concept and squash the bug for good.
Why evolutionary? For one thing, let’s look at the history of man. Our closest possible ancestors only existed just 2 million years ago, in a universe that’s 13.772 billion years old, that’s fucking less than 2% of the age of the universe. Get closer to species resembling modern man, and we’re only just 200,000 years old. Factor in, it’s just only in the last century (ignoring gynaecocracies’ like ancient Greece) the modern inflating problem of hypergamy, feminism, divorce rape, and the exacerbation of such around the globe only accounts for < 0.001 % of our time on this earth. This means, the other 98% of the time humans survived by forming small communities, hunting & foraging for food, and protecting their mates and offspring from the dangers of fellow man and Mother Nature. That is, we’ve evolved to survive radically different circumstances than what we are facing now. Just look at the prevalence of obesity today, for example.
But back to humans as hunter/gatherer(s), this meant life was incredibly volatile. You could be incredibly satiated one afternoon after a hunt, and then suddenly barely surviving the next 2 weeks moving from place to place with little or no food. Compound this with the lengthy and painful human gestation process, plus the added energy/calorie requirements of the birthing mother and newborn child, it’s no wonder humans were lucky to live past 30.
Human beings, who for the majority of their existence tended to be monogamous, choosing one mate to commit and father children with, passing down skills and values that would allow them to survive as long as possible seems like a logical strategy to maximize one's offsprings' chance of spreading the earth. At the same time, it might be a possible explanation why females can move on so quickly at the termination of a relationship, since early man could succomb to the environment at any given time, mothers unable to move-on past the traumatic experience put their survival at risk.
In our modern context, what would stop the average Neanderthal Jr. from impregnating every woman he comes across? Nothing. He’d be OK being a deadbeat dad knowing that his children would be fathered by blue-pilled cuckolds, and with modern medicine ensuring their relative safety and survival, frees him from a sense of guilt, which in turn gives him more time to ravage and spread his seed across the vast landscape of vagina.
(Note, not to say he couldn’t do it in the historical context. But for the sake of simplifying the argument.)
Now take this back to context of early man. It doesn’t fit, does it? In order to incentivize Neanderthal Jr. to dedicate his time and effort with an exclusive mate, there would need to be some biological function to make him do so. You know that thing that the BP world calls and names as love? Or in context of TRP, it can be that internal longing for the best “RP LTR” you can maintain in today’s sociological climate, or it could just be random bouts of “Oneitis” you get in the middle of the night after spinning plates is starting to get old.
It might represent a long-term, end-game biological carrot in our brains to prevent men from killing themselves after discovering that there actually is no purpose to life. Unironically, like how many men, BP or RP, in disproportionate numbers to women, tragedly commit suicide today.
Back to why “Oneitis” is utterly irrelevant today, we can focus on two important things that destroy any chance of success for this strategy to be effective:
Number one is, contraception. You all know what this leads to, so I’ll be brief. Sex pre-contraception specifically felt good in order to ensure reproduction, because that’s what it was precisely designed for. In the era of anonymous casual sex it now serves no purpose other than to supplement hedonistic lifestyles or maintain biological and hormonal balance.
Number two, which ties with number one, is the deterioration of a close, strong, familial unit and community. When divorce rape precludes women’s survival in the absence of a strong paternal protector, and BB’s that are the product of today’s society who allow for the minimal acceptable situation to parent any successive generations, it’s not hard to see why such a thing is deteriorating. The environment for fathers to instill strong masculine values and discpline is slowly disappearing.
So in just a span of less than 100 years, hundreds and thousands of years of evolution has rendered a possible evolutionary strategy relatively useless in much of the developed world. So if a bout of “Oneitis” happens again in one's lifetime, I wouldn’t be too quick to put blame all on oneself. Just in the way feminism is an advantageous sexual strategy today, “Oneitis” could have been a viable strategy only until yesterday, a situation borne from the fires of Mount Doom the chaos of human history.
Finally, even if everything I typed here turns out to be bullshit, hopefully it sparks some ways for those unplugged to creatively tackle, squash, or make peace with the bug in their own way.
To paraphrase Agent Jones, we’re all “Only human.”
