Countering a classic shaming tactic, specifically the "man up and contribute" manipulation attempt made by others who want you to be as miserable as they are.

This is a very common trap. Keep in mind that they are envious of you for your wealth. Not material wealth necessarily (such as money or whatever else), but time. The one marker of a man who has gone his own way is that he has an abundance of time to use as he sees fit, whether it's on self-improvement or whatever he damn well prefers.

But every now and then, you'll be met with miscreants who want you on the same level as them. Recognize this and respond nonchalantly. Smile, laugh, say "yeah maybe one day," but don't for one second consider sacrificing your free time for some false notion of contributing to a society that sees you as an expendable commodity.

No one owes you anything? True, but the same applies on your end, in that you don't owe anyone anything, either.
