Summary

Your environment has a greater impact on your brain than any drug. Optimize your environment, because it is rewiring your brain.

Body

Every morning when you open up social media, you're taking a drug. When you eat a doughnut, you're taking a drug. When you're playing video games, you're taking a drug. And when you type “PornHub” into Google, guess what, you’re taking 1000mg of unrealistic sexual satisfaction.

These activities don’t have the same stigma as smoking weed or taking xanny. They are socially acceptable addictions, but they are addictions none the less. Don’t believe me? Try cutting out all added sugar. Try to stop watching porn. You’ll see just how deeply these activities are ingrained into the silicon of your brain. It’s so bad that there are whole communities dedicated to quitting (ex. nofap).

That's why guys (and girls) who are otherwise well off, suffer from depression, anxiety, obesity, and sexual dysfunctions. Suicide rates are going up, because we're all fucking addicts. I'm not saying you must live like a monk in a cabin on a mountain with no external stimuli. Fuck that. Just be mindful of how your environment is rewiring your brain on a daily basis.

When you feel bored, go play pickup basketball with some friends instead of watching Youtube videos. When you’re horny, fuck a real girl instead of watching porn. Read instead of playing videos games. You might not be perfect (none of us are), but it gets easier and easier to implement these changes as time goes on. Delayed gratification is always better than instant gratification.
