It would seem that she should start with a remedial course in reading comprehension. The 'I' in IRA represents 'Individual', so the word 'we' is inappropriate.

I'm reading between the lines here, but I'd bet my lunch money that since he's got $1mm in his retirement account he makes a good living (and has a good investment advisor), and that coupled with the fact that she doesn't have an IRA suggests to me that she's been living off the fat of the land and doesn't now, and maybe never did, work outside the home. This should all add up to a condition whose technical name is Tough Nougies. It would seem that in her confidence in her omniscience she forgot the 7 P's...Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

When I got divorced my wife didn't give a shit about the retirement accounts. She wanted the house. So, I gave her the house and kept the retirement accounts. The retirement accounts are now worth about double the house value. Most women I've known have no motivation to save money for the future. They are more concerned with having shiny things to show off to their friends and family (McMansion, new cars, iphone7, etc)
