Reminds me of a point made by a YouTuber, can't remember specifically which, complementing the observation that women are sex objects in media. If that's true, then to an even greater degree, men are death objects; there are countless films where scores of men are graphically killed without remorse. Even in non-action genres, when you need an object of violence it is virtually always male.

So I hate to say it, but this doesn't surprise me. The fact it's marketed as a black comedy is bleak. A similar film with the murder of a female prostitute would have to be a psychological thriller with an obviously deranged protagonist, like American Psycho, where the main characters pitifulness and unreliability only just about allow a female life to be portrayed cheaply.

I can't believe this wasn't intended as parody. That trailer was just creepy.

Granted, I was never into trashy/goofy movies in the first place which was the vibe this might have been going for. But, so much about this seems over the top for even that genre.

I think with regard to media, the best (or worst) example of this is in TV commercials. Men are always the fools who are clueless about how to do something and then the woman comes around to point out and correct his stupidity. I have boycotted more companies than I can remember.

Small matter. There are also comedies about women who kill women. I haven't seen the full thing but Heathers comes to mind. Hollywood is always making fun of death in general. Not to mention dead strippers are a cornerstone of stuff like cop procedural shows.
