My girlfriend of 2 years just got a job in an office about 30 minutes away by driving or an hour away by bus. My commute to work is half that time, by car and bus. I have a car and she doesn’t. She told me that she needs to use my car everyday since her commute is much longer. I told her no because it’s my car and I worked really hard to get it. I’d be okay dropping her off every day since she starts work before I do and she’ll just have to bus home, but not with her taking my car and forcing me to use the bus to and from work.

Afterwards, she said that if she uses the bus I have to pay her bus fare, but instead I gave her a college student bus pass that is valid for 6 months (we both just graduated college and are no longer enrolled). That really pissed her off and she suggested that she move out if I dont budge on the issue. She’s also saying that she might as well quit her job if I make her ride the bus.

I told her that I’m not making her do anything and that it’s my car and I can do whatever I want to it. I said the only way I will let her take it is if she pays the car insurance bill and solely pays for gas. The argument just got worse.

And i being inconsiderate here? I know my commute is much shorter, but it’s my car. I feel like she’s being selfish. What to do?
