How much does being a good conversationalist matter when it comes to success with women?

Varying degrees. It depends on you, your style, your vibe, the setting, all sorts of things.

For me, conversational skills are critical. I'm ok looking, but I don't win points for a ripped physique or chiseled jaw (yet), I make decent money, but not enough to apply dollar game (nor would I if I could), so I rely on a big brain and silver tongue for my game.

That said, conversation skills alone are not enough. This became apparent last year when I went to the lake with some friend and saw a cute brunette who happened to be deaf.

Being a good conversationalist with men is not the same as being a good conversationalist with women.

Being a good conversationalist with women is, in my estimation, the same thing as having tight verbal game.
