It's simply an issue of perceived victimhood. If society sees a group as victimized, any behavior from that group is tolerated. The reason women can relax under the shade of double standards is the same reason rioters are not met with billy clubs and bullets. If you are part of a victim group, the rules don't apply.

Being a politcal activist, does not require self-reflection or any kind of self-evaluation. Usually these people are those who have a specific issue for a reason, but prefer to blame others rather than to take a good look at their own choices. It's the ultimate victimrole. Nothing is your fault and if someone does something you dislike, go all out on them, to prevent any questions coming your way.
