to note, if it's a matter of money, tone it back a bit, though have the relaxing time to yourself, walks, introspect, inspiration and find those things you really want as apposed to doing anything a-typical, just because.

Go and safe travels. The best New Years I ever spent was in a solo camping trip in central California. I usually backpack into the wilderness to avoid crowds, but that trip I stayed in the campground since nobody was there my entire stay. Enjoyed the solitude immensely. On my birthdays, I usually like to spend it alone in quiet contemplation. It's not just another day so I'll do something special for myself, but I don't want other people glomming on who are just looking for an excuse to party anyway.

Not where you're from... but Washington D.C. is an awesome place to have fun. People are very talkative with new people. No one is from D.C. so it is always cool to meet people from other areas of the U.S. and other countries.

Traveling alone is exquisite. Spend as much or as little time or money any way you like. Meet new fun people, see awesome things, go where the wind blows. You will look back fondly on this time you invest in yourself. Have a blast!
