TL/DR: sustainability in life. Progressing, and how to do the juggling act of life. It isn't that hard, it's actually quite simple.
Everyone can sit here all they'd like and talk about their success whilst climbing the ladder... it would be a bragging match to see who had a bigger dick (ego.).
Instead, let's talk about those of us who slip up and have a bad week, and don't meet our goals.
Sustainability is extremely important. For many of you, the things spoken about on TRP may be a lifestyle come true, one that you plan on holding onto. For others, you may be brushing through the fad. I, for one, can say this isn't like the time I bought 3k worth of golf clubs and used them 4 times.
The problem is, we get so wrapped up in the here and now sometimes now that we have swallowed the pill, that we forget about sustainability. Don't get me wrong, the here and the now is all that truly exists... but just in case you end up sticking around, here's a couple of things regarding sustainability that id like to point out. Please feel free to further expand on this list, or add something new.
One: Most importantly, your body and mind. In terms of sustainability, eating organic, having a set regiment that isn't rushed and where you gaining over the years, and not through the use of steroids is preferred. Accepting that working out is a life long journey and not some fad, will help you adapt to this mindset. I have been lifting close to 10 years, and I've experienced many ups and downs. I've broken bones playing sports, I've been terribly ill, and I have had small breaks due to mental fog and depression.
Today, I find there is ZERO excuse to miss the gym. I haven't missed a set, a rep, a day in over one year. The thing missing from my life was the pill, it was learning that discipline is much more important than I thought it was originally.
How haven't I missed a single day this past year? How have I kept on it for the past 10 years?
There's this saying, "there's no such thing as a priority, if everything is a priority." Think hard about what this means and truly accept it for what it's worth. Go ahead, pause. Now, don't do what most people do, pause again and really dwell on that statement.
In order to be successful and sustainable, you must come to grips with life. I have curve balls thrown at me every. single. fucking. day. At work, from my family, from friends going through shit, from finances, from my business, you name it, it's life for me. I accept every last one of these curve balls... I know where I am headed, and I know how to handle it.
There is something else I know... I don't care how tired I am, how overwhelmed I am with work, or who is dying, I am not missing the fucking gym. I let that fire burn, because this is my number one priority. I don't give a fuck if Jessica Alba is in my bed, clam out, dripping through my mattress, begging to fuck me, she can wait.
She can wait, the fire can wait, and all the bullshit can wait because this is my platform, it is the stilts to my being. I am this, this is my baseline. It is what will keep me level headed and not ripping a mother fuckers head off when he starts yapping. It's what keeps me focused, energized, and engaged in life. This is my everything... without this, I am useless.
Now, this doesn't change for dieting or meditation. These three are priority one... like I said, no matter what. I have accepted this as my structure, and every single day I get up knowing that if I don't do one single other fucking thing all day, this will be the three things I do.
Ironically, without money, I can't eat. So this is almost as important... My income, job, and finances are number two.
You with me so far?
I don't go to work, if I'm not eating, meditating, sleeping, and working out. I will call out, I will tell my clients they need to wait, I will do everything in my power to make sure I always make number 1, over number 2, no exceptions.
Number 3: family, and male friends. If I am lying dead in my home, I want someone to know. If I want someone to know, I better have some people who give a fuck about me around.
So, I don't hang out with my friends unless I've made some money or worked towards it. I don't make money unless I've exercised my mind and body. Still with me?
Education, is number 4. You should never stop learning. I don't care what it is, I want to learn about it, debate it, and find a better way to do it. I am hungry for knowledge. School, certifications, or reading to improve and change views, it doesn't matter....
I find life ironic... we come here with nothing and learn until we die. At the end, you've got a life form with all this experience, all this knowledge, and all that's left behind is his impact. He's dead, and spent a whole life learning. All that's left behind is his work and reputation. In this world, these two things can get you anywhere.
A man I did business with once told me this...
"If you don't have the 10,000 dollars, it tells me a lot about you PRT. It tells me more than you think. What it tells me is that you have no credit. I don't mean credit from a bank, I mean credit from your family and friends. If you have a reputation, someone with something you need, will give it to you without asking. So when you come here and say you have my ten grand, it tells me you are either great with your finances and make a lot of money... or it tells me you have a reputation, and that's all I want to know."
Number 5, your reputation and what you aim to leave behind.
Number 6, there is no number 6... I left women out on purpose. And whatever else you want from life, go get it. If you hate this list, change it. Even if your priority is opposite of mine (hedonism.), you can still do something else with yourself and use the list to balance yourself during your short existence.
