Firstly, Thanks for being a community, it helps to know I’m not alone. I think I’ve been going my own way for some time before I found you.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on a few points.

1, Never wanted kids, and managed to avoid having any, got a vasectomy about 4 years ago as most women my age got baby rabies. It’s just too big a risk on both time and resources. With no legal or social repercussions for women who trap guys.

2, Always thought marriage was a bad idea, it simply dosn’t offer any advantages for a guy, and many disadvantages. I watched my father get screwed over by my mother at a young age and it’s just not fair

3, Never wanted a big house and mortgage. I can’t understand why people tie themselves into 30 years of debt for anything, let alone the current climate.

4, I’d been wanting to work outside the UK, but had a live in girlfriend for three years. In the end I got a great new job in the US and convinced her to go, but she didn’t like being away from her family, and wanted to return in under a month, so I let her go and stayed in my new job.

5, Rent is expensive in San Francisco so I bought a van and am living in it full time. Showering at work etc. It’s a very nice new van and wasn’t cheap, but it will pay for itself in rent in less than a year. Telling women you live in a van is like vanishing spray. Poof and they’re gone. Despite the fact I’m on very good money with good prospects.

6, I’m planning to take 6 to 12 months off and tour all over in the van. This also is a woman repellent. You’d think my porta-pottie was made out of live snakes by the way women ask “But where will you go to the toilet?!” (I clean it almost every day, after doing micro-bio at uni I’m well aware if the benefits of good sanitation) But part of me thinks they’re just using the toilet as an excuse for avoiding the “unemployed" guy. If you’re not making money for me and my babies what use are you. Having the trip of a lifetime while you’re still young enough to hike, swim and enjoy it doesn’t seem to have any upside for the average woman.

But here’s where I disagree with some of the posters here

1, I do want a long term female companion, both for sex and for romance. I’m going on dates here as part of the search. Thing is, I’m not willing to compromise on my big van trip plans, or pretty much anything else I’ve decided in my life and this cuts the number of eligible women down to about zero as far as I can tell.

2, I’m shocked at posters advocating removing rights/votes from women, surely they’re thinking feeling humans like you and I. Many are my friends, and a few have been my lovers. The legal climate does not favour men in relationships and women often have different life goals to men, meaning the decision to opt out normal lifescript is a good one. Frankly opting out of kids and big debt would be a good decision for women too, but only a few see it. But still, the demonisation here can be over the top.

Question at the heart of this I guess is this? Do you have to reject relationships with women to call yourself MGTOW? Or is it enough to just do your own thing, while still hoping somewhere there’s a woman who does want the same life you want?
