I don't know I think religion has been a good thing for the betas because it keeps women in line. Women are easily led by stories and fairytales especially in terms of spirituality. So I think the best way to keep women in line is to tell them they will go to hell and suffer eternal pain if they cheat on their marriage. Free love really only benefits the alphas as many women would rather wait in line than fuck a beta provider.

Society was far more stable when it was based on single-pairings. Only a small tribal society, just a few hundred at most, can be stable with harems.

I thihnk the primary reason for polygamy is that many men simply died. To give all the women husbands, some had to double up. However, this became less popular in early Christian times. The drawback was having too many men in permanent bachelorhood not of their choice.

For every man that has 10 wives, there are either 9 men with no wives or 1 woman with 10 husbands, or there is an absurdly high mortality rate among the men, or the majority of men are homosexual, or the majority of men have an extremely low sex drive.
You forget that women have a collective mindset. The wives of the "alpha" may be fighting among each other but they are just as likely to work together to emotionally manipulate him into doing their bidding.

Nope. Look at Alexander the greats mom, or some of Ghengis Khan's wives, harems are actually more of a hassle, they create political power struggles, in fact, its contributed to the fall of almost every great empire in human history.
