This is culturally insane for Japan. Given that women are expected to leave work once they are married, empowering women will be futile. While I din't read the post, I can guess that government hasn't done jack with promoting men. Should men not make enough to afford the wife and kids ont their own income, marriage is out of the question.. Japan has to get serious about this. At present, they are losing one third of their population with each generation. Already, adult diaper sales are greater than that for infants.

With as bad as it is becoming over there I am shocked the government is doing this. Their society will soon implode as no one(exaggeration)wants anything to do with the other sex. I am starting to think that no one in power over there has a hold on reality. They may all actually be too blue pilled to realize what the problem is. Or they are smart and intend to destroy their country.

In Asia, you pretend to follow the rules but no one does. 90% of what Japan does is a facade to appease the west. Believe it or not, some countries in Asia have stricter pollution controls for vehicles then all western countries. Then you see surplus buses etc which have been exported to these countries for failing pollution tests.

What will happen. Japan will hire women to pretend they are the President, everyone is happy then. Even now, just because the guy is called President doesn't mean he runs things. Dummies are common, you need to find out who is in charge, it is possible it might actually be a woman.

Six months have passed since a law to promote the active engagement of women in society (see below) took effect. About 98 percent of target companies have drawn up an action program to promote women’s careers and have already implemented measures based on those programs, but the remaining companies have yet to submit their plans as the law requires.

“We’d like to make that figure 100 percent as quickly as possible,” a ministry official overseeing the efforts said.

A database is available online (http://www.positive-ryouritsu.jp/positivedb) regarding information contained in each company’s action program, as well as data on how much the active role of female workers has had an impact on the business.

As of Sept. 16, information on about 6,300 companies had been posted.

[Masumi] Minagawa said it is necessary for the central government to do extra work to increase the effectiveness of the law, for example, by admonishing companies whose achievements are deemed much lower than their industry average.

“Female workers and job-seekers are encouraged to check and compare those websites frequently, and to talk about it. As a result, companies will take a more serious approach to moving forward in their actions. What’s important is for people to keep up the interest in what companies are doing,” she added.

Star system for good firms

The law stipulates a so-called eruboshi (L star) certification system, lauding companies that actively engage in the promotion of women in their workplace.

Eruboshi is a logo design that features stars shining above a circled letter L, and its name comes from a combination of the letter L (pronounced eru in Japanese and representing words like “labor” and “lady”) and star (hoshi). Certified companies are allowed to use this logo, and there are three levels of achievement.

Temporary legislation with a 10-year limit to oblige companies with a workforce of at least 301 people, the central government and local public entities to promote women’s careers. Companies with 300 or fewer employees are urged to make efforts for that purpose. Companies were required to ascertain the percentage of women among newly hired employees and those in managerial posts, analyze the challenges they face, and then compile and publicize action programs and submit them to the central government by April 1 this year. There are no punitive clauses in the legislation.
