The messed up part that I see is how this shows that women will work to change/fix asshole, and appear to be loyal and faithful. Had he done everything she wishes for him to do, and made that change to trying to be Mr. Perfect, she'd've probably left him by now, or be on the internet talking about another man instead of him.
