I was recently out of work for almost a year and can tell you employers were looking for 1 or more of 3 things.

Complete devotion, taking time off because you're sick isn't a reason to take time off. Holidays? Fuck you.

Fully trained, experienced and licensed staff. Nobody, and I mean nobody, has any will to actually train someone with a portion of the knowledge.

Part time, 20 hours a week or less and for minimum wage. And the scheduling requirements are such that it would be nearly impossible to easily find a second job.
