Why do conservatives constantly preach about marriage?

This is a complicated question but I'll bite, knowing this answer is incomplete.

Christian conservatives do not see marriage the way you do. Marriage for most Christians is a representation of how Christ loves the Church, expressed through a legal contract. The husband is to symbolize Christ and the wife the church body. Both are important but one leads the other. That's what's in their heads when they push for marriage. For those who are not of faith, yes, marriage is basically a contract from the government and doesnt make sense to push it if the modern culture makes relationship dynamics unhealthy.

How you define marriage dictates how you debate about it. Don't assume one concept means the same thing to everybody. Women do that and look how those conversations go.

Conservatives are in the business of protecting things, 'conserving' them if you will. The fact remains that a civilization built on stable, married family units is the only kind that has a future long term. The long term health and success of their society is of primary importance to the conservative.

Sadly, conservatives are an extremely rare breed these days. ~90% of people who call themselves conservatives are actually nothing more than cuckservatives. These are the guys who want to try and conserve marriage while conceding male authority within the institution, seeing it as a lost cause. They don't understand that male authority within families is central to the function of the institution.

They want you to get married and have kids to share in their misery and lighten their tax burden.

High income= higher tax rate. If you're single, you can live on $15k a year. Anything beyond that is gravy. So your tax bracket is 10%. After rebates and credits, you pay basically nothing. If you're married, you have to make lots more money (at least 50k) , so you're in a higher tax bracket (22-24% at least).

Think of taxpayers as slaves building a pyramid in ancient Egypt. The more people enslave themselves to the state, the lighter the load on the other slaves.
