Because of this, I believe that an intellectual connection, is the only "true" connection between humans.

The feeling of "love" is a pre-programmed behaviour, it's essentially your genes "commanding" you to procreate, by rewarding you with pleasure.

~~I'd argue that most of the time, your body and hormones "lie" to you.~~ I'd argue that a lot of the time, feelings of love are your body and hormones "lying" to you. You have to ignore the urges (the "commands") and use your conscious brain to supersede what you are being commanded to do by your genes/programming.

Compare this to an intellectual connection, where you want to be in the other person's company for reasons other than your biological urges. You share a connection because you are compatible intellectually, instead of being slaves to the urges that are commanding you to mush genitals together.

While that's a pretty accurate analysis of love in the context of most relationships, especially today, I think "love" as a concept is far more nuanced than that.
