Saying lifting must be done in a fancy corporate gym is like saying yoga must be done in a fancy corporate yoga studio. The most fun lifting I've had is with my friend who put a power rack in his bedroom at home. And there's plenty of gyms left out there oriented towards men. Look for the hole in the wall, basement places that focus on free weights rather than cardio machines.

no difference I can see except no one's juicing to be competitive in yoga.

When I look at long-term cost I'm thinking I should get my own bench & weights and maybe power-rack and just do it all at home. Costs too much time & money to regularly go to the gym, whereas with weights at home I can go to that immediately after waking up or right after work before hitting the shower.
