I talk to people about this all the time. I've seen the vicious cycle by observing my friends (guys and girls) and reflecting on past girls I've dated. It's why I try so hard to give everyone a fair chance and not let past experiences ruin the next opportunity. The socially isolated guy you described in this post was me pretty much down to a T. I didn't like what I saw when I looked at relationships and the way people treated each other, so I just didn't really bother for the longest time. Most girls I dated have had troubled past relationships and it definitely affected how they treated me.

Edit: Nice username, reminds me of Fight Club. I watched Fight Club again recently and it's amazing how relevant the movie is in our current society.

Can't say this really resonates with me, interesting perspective though.

I simply look at women this way: if one can add value to my life she can be part of my life, maybe. So far: none. Nein. Zip. So for a man who doesn't actually feel lonely there's no incentive, no drive, to lower standards at all.

For all I know this is just one of the myriad symptoms of civilization/empire collapse. The economic slavery put upon the serf-class gives no options to wine, dine & fancy-treat a princess girl even if you'd like to and even if that princess girl actually is pretty nice and just likes being shown a treat & affection.

The feminist-movement of man-hate & exploitation isn't helping. Thankfully not all PUAs & few MGTOW genuinely are trying to make a woman-hate counter-movement but some tendrils are starting. It will not be helpful.

It's OK to hate exploitation & admit who's doing it without having to lay unearned blame. It's also OK to be risk averse because frankly, those who aren't usually get stomped on & their lives ruined.
