I imagine a few of you are ready to lambaste social media in general, but understand that I am a young MGTOW and that I quite literally do not know anyone; (not even my mom's generation) who doesn't at least occasionally use Snapchat/Instagram/Facebook.

So because I am a musician, I essentially need to have at the bare minimum a Bandcamp, Soundcloud and Facebook artist page. This is the only reason I keep my personal Facebook, with a close second being that it's a good way to group chat with friends who have gone on to different colleges. I unfollow every single friend that I have so that my newsfeed is non-existent, using it this way, Facebook isn't really much of a distraction, just kind of an aol instant messenger and a necessity for running my Facebook artist page; now I can still have Facebook and also literally never see the updates on peoples dinners and my cousins new babies and shit.

However, I'm realizing that pretty much all of my snapchat and instagram usage was based around impressing women. It was at the point where I would take a really nice hike not for the exercise, but to show off my hike through these mediums. Really, if I have no real interest in relationships, what the hell is the point? I suppose some use it to show off to distant family, but all of my family is actually relatively local. If I'm being honest with myself I don't know if I've ever showed off on Instagram/Snapchat with the intention of impressing my platonic friends; there's always at least a tinge of hope of impressing the females that leave likes/view my snapchat story.

I know some of you will judge these admissions harshly, but I still think it's worth bringing up and having a discussion about. Essentially I'm just asking: how has your social media use changed since becoming MGTOW?
