I realize not all situations are the same, so the following post relies on these two assumptions: Your motivation for dating involves more than just sex, and the women you date are of lower socioeconomic status. In this scenario, let's imagine a woman who recently finished college.

When you ask, "Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?" THIS is what you might really be saying:

"Would you like to interview me for an hour as you eat an expensive meal that I paid for and act like I am lucky to be spending time with you? If the date goes well, can I offer to pay for more meals, among other things, and a year later offer to give you a $5,000 ring? Would you like the chance to get that ring as well as at least half of my home and other assets? May I inherit your debt and subsidize your shopping and travel addictions? Would you like to move your cats into my spotless home eventually? Would you please grant me the privilege of planning all aspects of this date so you have to worry about nothing other than showing up? Finally, will you give me the opportunity to try to prove to you that I am good enough for you within the first 15 minutes of this date, before you invariably decide that you have learned enough about me to dismiss my potential, as I compete with your fantasy of the perfect man that your parents and Disney movies convinced you not only existed, but that you deserved?!

I'm exhausted just thinking about it... I know it sounds anecdotal, but I suspect a lot of you can relate to this whether you realize it now or not. Before you disagree, please take another glance at the two assumptions.

Thoughtful dialogue is appreciated!
