Evil woman, got what she deserves, Just imagine what all that money could have done for her daughter's education. What the hell do these types of women have in their head? She's better off with her father, but knowing how men are, he will eventually allow her to have split custody or some stuff like that.

I could just imagine several discussions between the woman and her lawyer.

"They offered a settlement. It's Fair, you should really consider it."

Her. "HE's a bastard incoherent rambling and screaming"

Lawyer "I feel obligated to let you know my bill is already in excess of $100,000."

Her "When I win, he will have to pay it"

The lawyer then laughingly responds "OK". As he leaves the room and proceeds to start looking at a new summer property.

I'm pretty sure one of her angles was just to grind him into submission, the same way multinationals do when the little guy stands up against them. It sounds like she tried to take a page from the Monsanto playbook and it backfired.
