Ok you guys have to hear this one. Bare with me.

My best friend from high school. Still my best friend.

Marries his college sweetheart.

He joins the Air Force and thrives. Ascends to the rank of 0-6 Colonel. 26 years in.

He tells his wife that he’s going to put his packet in to retire. She’s like “Oh, honey I think that’s a good idea.

He comes home on his last day on active duty to change clothes and go to his retirement party. Goes to the front door. His key doesn’t work. Back door. Same. Calls his wife twice. No answer. Calls his 19 year old son who has no idea what’s going on but calls his mom my buddy’s wife who then calls my buddy back.

Conversation went as follows. And I wish I was making this up.

“I want a divorce. I’ve changed the locks on the doors. I’ve filed a temporary restraining order against you. If you want any of your personal items, call the sheriffs office for a standby and you’ll get 30 minutes to retrieve items under their supervision. If you have anything else you need to discuss with me contact my attorney.” Hangs up.

Bitch waited until the very last day of his military career to maximize her 50 % of his colonels pension.

So instead of getting 70 grand a year he gets 35 and she gets the other 35.

Wait. It gets better. He lined up a 6 figure after retirement contracting job. In the divorce she filed for half of any future earnings for 8 years.

He called the contractor and had to turn down the job.

Somewhat happy ending. He has two great adult children that love him, he bought a little condo, he bones women half his age and will never ever get married again.
