I would have done this in stats, but I'm only aware of stats of child abuse by sex of the abuser or by socio-economic class.

Personally I have observed/been told (by themselves) that a whole lot more of my female than male friends are abused by their parents, (and when I say parents, with only a single exception, I mean mother.) Keep in mind that most of my friends are from the lower socio-economic strata, since I grew up in it, so don't get too shocked.

Girls: In the ones with both parents, I've only had a few cases, so say 1/10, while in single mother families, it's almost 4/10.

Boys: By my guy friends however, I've never been told anything.

Does this agree with your experiences/are you aware of any stats for this phenomenom? And are mothers really more violent against their own sex, or are guys just that much more quiet? I know some child abuse victims are very quiet..

Edit: By child abuse I mean violent child abuse, usually things like hitting them in the face closed fist or hitting/spanking them excessively
