If you give your wealth away you don't have it. The idea is to preserve it.

What worked for me in divorce was to state my requirements, my terms, and negotiate. I made it clear to my ex that certain things were not negotiable, e.g., custody of our kid. And there were limits. We worked out most of the details ourselves after talking with our attorneys.

I had to consider my options, risk vs reward. If I allowed the family court to decide what % of my wealth I'd have to give up, I could have lost much more. The likelihood of losing more in court was very high, and depended on the judge, what she thought of me and how she was feeling on my court date.

My ex also knew that I would go "scorched earth" - I'd have spent everything on winning, there'd be little or nothing left of the wealth for her in the aftermath.

She can't afford her lifestyle without my support, our discussion about scorched earth convinced her to be more reasonable during negotiations.

In the end, I lost half my wealth, pay alimony and child support - which combined is less than she spent on average when we were married. We share full joint custody without conditions or restrictions. I created an investment account for my son before he was born, before we divorced. I put the child support directly into this account, my ex and I both have access to it, so we can see what goes in or out.

In a few years after the divorce I gained back and surpassed my wealth losses. Child support ends in a few years, as will my alimony. I also estimated she spent 70%-90% of every dollar we spent while married, that's like an 80% increase in my wealth as I only have to support myself in retirement.

TL;DR: Negotiate from a position strength, define your position and make it clear what you are capable and willing to do (legally). If you don't have kids or care about them, then leave the country to a safe haven, many countries won't extradite for civil matters.

My personal advice is to go to a casino and get yourself be seen there, wasting thousands, taking selfies, and being very clear that you are trying to waste all your money. Buuuuut, actually buy bitcoin on the side with 80/90% of what you actually have after selling everything. No joke. Make it believable enough and you could get away with it. The judge is probably going to sanction you for wasting away "the money you should have given to ex and the kids", sure, but you can recover from that. Depending on how much assets you have before the divorce, it could be worth it.

They will make you split the asset or give her the whole thing. Often she gets the asset while the man must pay for it. Regardless... she’s getting it all!!

Only case I heard where this worked is the man liquidated all assets into gold bars. He then threw it in the trash so even if it’s found... the city claims ownership at the dump. So she had no means of getting those assets.

Only choice is to go nuclear, or flee the country. Family courts want all men in jail, or dead. And all assets in the women’s hand. The child isn’t even a concern.

Doing any of that will only harm you even more. It will look very bad in a court of law. Just cut your loses in court and rebuild and be smarter.

The best way to save money in a divorce is to never get married, simple.

Just like the best way to save money from bad stock in a failing company is to never invest into it.

Marriage is a bad investment all around with your wife being a depreciating investment when she hits 30. And will bankrupt you in the end. Also keep in mind she was never an asset to begin with, just a parasite latching on its host.

I'm hardly the expert, but if you know it's coming well in advance, I'd seriously consider getting yourself fired and being "unable" to find another job. The opposite of this (been there) is to be being paid an unsustainably large amount of money at the moment of divorce, and being crushed by the resulting alimony.

Could also try converting some of your assets to cash, gold, etc.
