Two things I've noticed have changed in the last five years or so. One for the worse, but one also for the better.
First, the bad news. Women have become more promiscuous, and their partner count has gone WAY up. One study that has tracked the number of partners a bride has before marriage found that in the 2010s, 18% of women had 10+ sexual partners. Of course, both from anecdotal experience and the knowledge that women tend to lie downward about their sexual experience, as well as the exploding popularity of apps like Tinder we all know this is likely an underestimate. This will certainly not generate positive effects for society, as women with more sexual partners are more likely to divorce, with the risk being well over 70% for the most promiscuous women. The divorce rate already hovers at around 50%, but as double-digit sexual histories become the norm, we can only expect it to increase. Already, at least 75% of divorces are initiated by women and the underlying cause of many if not most of these is an extensive sexual history combined with a severely diminished capacity to pair bond.
If there is a silver lining, however, it's 1) men have become more aware of the problem, and 2) we are more willing to speak out about it. I graduated HS in 2010. During my entire time in high school, it seemed one line kept constantly being drummed into young men. Sometimes from our parents, sometimes from the media, sometimes from our teachers or even from us ourselves, onto each other: "A woman's sexual past has no bearing on her ability to be a good wife and mother." Always the same line, or variations of it, and always in the same boring, monotonous, robotic-sounding, newscaster-like voice. I often wondered if anyone truly believed in it, and I don't think most people did, especially among my peers, but nearly everyone went along with it anyways because there was an unspoken rule that the opposing opinion was simply unacceptable. It was absolutely absurd, but most people just went along with the program and kept their head down to avoid getting in trouble.
Looking back, I think this really started in the mid-1990s. I'm not old enough to remember these times, and lived in a different country then anyways, but it seems this was really the time that mainstream media started to force feminism, in its modern understanding, down our throats. On MTV, the popular singers of the day were vocalists like Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crow, and Sarah Mclachlan, who proudly flaunted their sexuality and portrayed themselves as strong women who opposed traditional visions of femininity, involving sensitivity and vulnerability, while simultaneously trashing men as cheaters, idiots, etc. It was also around this time that PC culture, and the idea that certain, mostly conservative ideas, should be self-censored (think of the Seinfeld "Not that there's anything wrong with that" episode) and were socially unacceptable, began to take hold. And since there was no or very limited Internet at the time, the mainstream media had almost a monopoly on the flow of ideas, making society especially susceptible to indoctrination.
Things have changed in this regard. While most urban workplaces still retain an unspoken, and sometimes explicitly stated liberal speech code that implies conservative and "sexist" (where sexist means anything that does not praise a woman or women, regardless of her character or actions) statements are unacceptable, continue to function, the Internet and subreddits like this one have shown men that they are not alone and that they are not crazy for holding views that they have intuitively always believed to be true and that have been viewed as true for most of history. I don't know what the upcoming years hold, but I am cautiously optimistic that as more and more men jump on the MGTOW train, and the opinion becomes fully mainstream, the trends will start to reverse themselves as women realize that they cannot sleep around with as many men as possible and then still expect men to unconditionally partner up with them. In short, I believe and hope that feminism has reached its peak and will only decline from here on in and that future generations will view it as a sad and unfortunate episode in the long chronicle of human history.
