More of a question than the typical theory post, hence the question mark.

I have a "friend" who is a pathological liar. He's claimed he was amazing at football and baseball in high school, but when you look up the records they show he was shit.

He's claimed to have made a 96+ on a test in a difficult class we're in, and I've seen his grades. He's never made above an 85 with an average of 68, meanwhile my average is 91.

He's pathological because he seems to believe himself fully and he uses these lies as a way to gain social proof and value.

He's a good story teller so these lies generally sound good.

Any suggestions on what to do about this? I'm currently just phasing him out of my life but the complexity of the situation means he'll be around me for some time.

I'm more fit, smarter, make more money, and am more responsible than him.

He has a slightly "cuter" face (id say I'm about an 8 face-wise, him a 9) and he is more outgoing/has more external game. That's not to say mine is bad, he's just more adroit.

Anyone ever dealt with a pathological liar?

I can't just call him out because that will lower my social value by making me seem petty.

Edit: the reason he's not being cut out of my life is I introduced him to a friend of mine and they're hitting it off. Looks like they'll be dating very soon which means he'll be around. I don't know how to shed light on his apparent problem without losing face with her.
