Well first off taking his phone was really high school like, aka immature. I would apologize about that. For him, it will take a lot of begging to get him back, so just remain calm, make him something to eat and kiss him.

It was immature and I apologized before he left. But he's apologizing to me. Do I just accept the apology? In the past all it does is make him feel like things are better with absolutely no change. I'm wondering if my acceptance of the apology is why he cycles back to the same behavior or if there is another way to handle it that can help
He was moody and emotional all day and it didn't matter what I did to make him happy he was just pissed and complaining about everything from the kids being loud to the groceries we had. I was trying to get some answers about what he actually wanted when this fight happened. He couldn't answer and just spent an hour on his phone looking on his phone commenting about whatever I was doing and how I drove him crazy. He gets in these funks where he's just miserable and I have no idea what to do to help.

Thanks. Is there any tips for the future? (Besides not doing that again, obvs) Should I just avoid him entirely on Sundays? Is there a way to prevent things like this from happening again or no.

Don't think too much about it. If he's feeling miserable, tell him he needs to step up and lift.
I'm not implying anything from "move on". Just move on from the problem.
