Also, get a book called "How to read a book: the classic guide to intelligent reading." Most people can read words, sure; most people can't comprehend what they are reading. This is where the learning curve comes in. Are you just reading words or are you experiencing that person's thoughts? Also, learn how to speed read and speed comprehend, it'll save years on your life. Applied knowledge is power brothers.

I kind of agree and disagree. I agree that reading books can yield a positive effects (like gaining knowledge). On the other side it will mean nothing if you read a lot of books if you can't understand them.
