The calm silence is really the most appealing thing honestly, just doing what you need to do, without random bullshit people constantly bitching. A dog in that sort of situation would definitely be a worthy companion.

That's a very good dog. Tools and dogs were core to us as a species elevating ourselves from banging rocks together, to modern civilization.

Of course that guy had a lot of help from modern tools and materials - but that video shows how far you can go with some hand tools, a lot of wood and other natural materials, and a metric buttload of manpower and brains.

A great job. Also, I think building a water-wheel, which generates electricity, would have been one of my first projects. Electricity produces light, heat, can be used in pumps (indoor toilets and septic tanks). Or buying some solar panels and a battery :-)

Didn't see the thing except for a few seconds. I'd say this. Could I do that? I'd say yes. Do I want to do that? My answer is no. I love my life in the city with all it's comforts too much. Sure I like to hike in forests/ wilderness. But I don't want to live there if I'm being given a choice. If not: I'll adept or die and make the best out of it as long as I can.
