Feel a bit broken, but I'll survive. A marriage of one year, currently away from wife and to cut a long story short, had a situation with her mother in law who gaslit' me in January to a point where I considered seeing a psychologist and wondered if I should walk around with a fire extinguisher . I'm not one to sweep things under the rug and pretend that it never happened, especially if these things touch me at my core. Growing up in a largely female family I came to detest manipulative games, guilt trips and emotional warfare - just let people live! It's really that simple. I tried for months for put it in the back of my mind, but yesterday I couldn't anymore, had to say how I felt, I'm not one to harp on the past but don't try to belittle what's important to me or anyone and tell me to just "be a man and suck it up". Told her, I'll put the bulk of my time into work as to be able to better provide for my son and to take care. Who knows where it goes from here, but I had to stand up for myself. Was it risky, yes but do I feel that I've quit betraying myself for the cause of playing into someone else's power game, yes as well. Guys, please stand up for yourself. I wasn't mean or demeaning, I'll never be to her or her in laws, I have to live with myself, in my own head - it's important to keep it a sane environment. Mental games hurt everyone involved. Told her that I only ever wanted our son to grow up in a loving home.
