Congratulations! I fought a hard battle too, to end up with 50/50. Just look at the money as an investment in your future. I was told by someone that he had to fight for every second he could get either his kids, because he didn’t want to take the risk of his daughters coming to him later in life and asking why he didn’t fight hard enough for them. That became my mantra. And you succeeded. Sadly, you will probably have many hard fights ahead head of you from what you wrote. I am 6 years divorced and still have to deal with crazy bullshit from her.

Similar issues, I ended up with 50/50 joint custody and residence yet I’m still paying her monthly child support!

I made slightly more than her and now I’m on the hook for another decade

Me too man. First a epo then 7 month of supervised visit with zero proof of abuse. Not a single scratch or hospital visit or report in 12 years we were together. Verbal yes as we both hated each other by the end of the marriage. So after $30000 in lawyer fees I had my son 3 days a week. 6 years later and $4000 more of lawyer fees I have him 50% of the time. Somehow I have to pay for all the child support still. Broke as fuck but so happy to see my son on an equal bases. Keep going man. It is easier said than done but one foot after the other. Reward yourself for small victories. Stop drinking or doing drugs if you can. I really tried to improve myself.

Similar experience here. Took over 5 years, partly due to my willingness for too long to stay patient and her (now) broken promises. Also courts are slow. Beware that the fight for custody never ends for some. She's still trying to set traps and now pushing kids away from me aggressively, parental alienation. Feels like I'm losing my daughter again sometimes. I'll say transition days are super tough. Kids need to be detox'd before we can get to normal.

Hell yeah man. I went through the same shit. Really does require them to realize (way to fucking late) that a man in a robe is going to decide. Ridiculous you had to fight at all.

I was almost exactly 80k in legal fees too.

Warning: 3 years later I have full custody. Within ONE month of making the agreement you just made, I was getting asked to take more than 50%.

Guarantee you it’s the same. It was never about you being abusive. It was about her getting attention and being a victim. Now that that’s over, and parenting is hard, she will dump kid on you.

Every accusation is projection. I would bet money on this. Your ordeal is not over, but at least you’re through the shittiest part!

Only in the family courts does any of that shit make sense.

We need punishment for filing false allegations and reports.
