Context: My friend was desperate and used to follow this uninterested girl around, even to the bus stop (they weren’t friends), to the point she one day called him creepy.
I later spoke to her and told her I don’t blame her for calling him creepy, but that at the same time he was inexperienced and wanted to “seem cute” so it wasn’t his intention to scare her.
A couple months later, she got angry after he shouted at her in class for embarrassing him (she wanted to move away with me (we were flirting) as soon as he sat down next to us. I decided to stay with my friend because I wouldn’t betray him for a girl I suddenly got a crush on. I maintained my frame.)
Initially in my mind I was on his side in this little fiasco, but then over text he said a rude insult towards me which made me silently angry to the point I started shifting to the girl’s side.
The girl didn’t know that he made a rude comment towards me.
When me and the girl were walking to our classes together the next time, I spoke to her behind my desperate friend’s back about the other creepy things he’s done with other girls.
Then I was like “You know it’s fun speaking about Medicine with you”
She replied “Medicine is boring” in a harsh, cold manner and tone.
At the time I was silently shocked and confused because she was usually really nice to me and she wanted to study Medicine passionately herself so it was illogical for her to find it boring.
I replied “I think it’s fun”. At the time I didn't realise it was a shit test (if it even was?).
We both were silent and a few seconds later I decided to leave her and go to my class because her comment put me off, and she said “Bye” in a high pitched warm tone.
My theory is that, because I seemingly broke my frame (I didn’t, he pissed me off) by speaking behind my friend’s back to her and shifting to her side (the same friend I was defending when she called him creepy and the same friend I chose to stay with when she wanted to leave him), she sensed incongruency and wanted to test how congruent I was being to my ideals/frame by seeing if I would change my opinion about Medicine after she replied that Medicine is boring.
I stuck to my frame by saying that I think Medicine is fun, but I’m not sure if this means I passed the shit test or if it was a weak response. Was it a weak response?
