I got divorced when I was 46. I am 6'5, was a VP at a major insurance company, kids were all grown, and I had a shit load of money. I am average looking. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs, and I have three degrees.

I went on Chemistry.com for a free weekend. I actually was dumb enough to include what I make in my profile.

It was like throwing chum into shark infested waters. I hadn't dated in years, and I was astounded at how many hits I got in one weekend. I took off how much I make, and that slowed things down, but only to a down pour, as my message center was blinking like a router.

I responded to exactly one woman. She was my age, educated, and absolutely exuded self confidence, self respect and honesty in her profile, and all of her pictures included friends and nephews and nieces.

In the weekend, I had women ask me to come over for a few hours after their kids went to sleep, women straight up saying come over to fuck, women telling me they'd make it worth my while. It truly made me sad.

The woman I responded to seemed like she wasn't interested in anything more than taking a chance, to see where things go. No promises, no demands, no requirements. I emailed her my phone number, and we talked on the phone every nigh for almost a month.

She has three degrees, owned her own house, had her own money, was funny, sincere and totally upfront. She was patient with this new to the market guy. I actually didn't know was a what a rebound girl was, and was shocked when she told me that was her big worry.

We have been together for 11 years, married for 10, and she is the one. We have integrated our lives, our friends became our mutual friends, and I am still happiest when we are together.

When I found this subreddit, the weekend on Chemistry.com made more sense to me. While I didn't think of myself as anything special, being a 46 year old guy, that was interested in women my age, with a stable job, and good education, made me gold.

My wife once told me how lucky I was the I met her before I got sucked into the shark tank. I understood when I met her friends. And then I found this subreddit. Holy God, man did I dodge a bullet.
