A friend of mine has one. It's litter trained, and runs around the house the way a dog would. It seems very affectionate. She keeps her in a cage when out of the house.

I looked after one for a while. Very low effort pet, literally throw some food in her cage every day and let her run around, and she was fine.

They're cuddly and soft. And if shit hits the fan, you can probably get two or three meals out of it.

If you do get one, keep it away from cables. I know one friend with a bunny who has been through ten laptop chargers in the past two years.

I fucking hate rabbits.

They're messy, they bite EVERYTHING, they need constant attention or else they die. If you get one be prepared to lose more than a couple of electronics since the bite cables and control buttons.

Especially males that are not castrated, they mark everywhere and the whole place smells like urine.

They are (mostly) good pets depending on their personality. Some are cuddly and sweet and some sneak behind your entertainment center and chew through all the wires.

They are mostly litterbox trained (their boxes use hay not litter which smells nicer) and no carrots are not enough, you need to buy them rabbit chow. It's basically pellets which are cheap af. Be careful serving them too many veggies, carrots are actually fairly high in sugar and not great in quantities, and never give them iceberg lettuce unless you want brown trails everywhere for a couple days. Other types of lettuce are fine.

As noted elsewhere unfixed males are a handful, and never adopt two rabbits who are not bonded, they can sometimes fight to the death. You can adopt from a rescue center, I would recommend getting a bonded couple who's already fixed. I had rabbits as pets for many years while married so feel free to ask any other qs.
