Not rushing to find this, but I know I will someday.

I found this. Well, he found me... but I could never get past his finances. He wanted to be a husband (and eventually a father..urrgh kids) but he couldn’t provide.

This meme is ok, probably appeals to the younger subset more and is pretty fantastical. But getting adoration and validation simply isn’t enough in the real world. This is like the ideal when you’re in jr high.

I feel the same. And I also felt like he was always romanticizing marriage as this happily ever after fairy tale when it’s not 100% likethat...it’s hard work.
He grew up in a single-parent household and just saw married couples from afar, so he was always fascinated with his friends lives who had both parents and to this day, he tells the stories of going over their house and watching them interact just like the small kid he once was. He doesn’t seem to acknowledge the REAL / GRITTY side of living with someone, getting used to their intricacies, and re-ordering your life to make it tolerably comfortable with another person.

Ah god. Yes. This is the reality. People get so caught up in the glittery and glam parts but the day-to-day of marriage is actually very much like a job. If someone starts sucking at their job or the wrong person was hired, the company is fucked. Stripping it down from all the romance is necessary sometimes bc love can blind you from the truth- which is sometimes ugly... like you’re being unappreciated, you’re doing all the work, they’re not pulling their weight etc.
