I've been here for a few days now - thank you all for being so lovely and welcoming! I just had a few questions some other newbies might share.

I've noticed that a lot of the threads have comment counts that don't match the number displaying when you open the thread. I know this sub is heavily brigaded and the automod flags comments containing certain words for review, but so many comments never appear in the thread. Are we really getting spammed that hard?

Also, I've now commented twice in a thread and the comments I wrote don't seem to be appearing. They were pretty tame and I didn't receive a notification saying my post was automatically flagged for review like on occasions where I used gendered slurs in context. I was curious as to why that might be?
