It’s crazy how even under the strictures of the patriarchy, how much more overtly liberated the “educated” woman is.

In the context of all that’s going on with BLM this week, I’d like to remind folks of Ibram X. Kendi’s philosophy on antiracism and how it relates to policy - it’s relevant for this video. Kendi notes that the nefariousness of oppression is how it pushes individuals to blame each other and themselves on solutions that should be focused on policy. Poor and suffering folks are looking for a place to put their hurt and so they turn to racism, misogyny, etc. rather than admitting it’s the gleaming elites they look up to that are actually causing their pain.

It’s really clear here how uneasy and insecure the “uneducated” woman is, so she blames feminists and women with education to muffle her unhappiness. She can’t own up to it because that would be admitting personal failure.

Plus Kendi is rad - he and his wife decided to mutually change their last names at marriage to something new (an HVM thing to do!).
