Had my "awakening" while traveling solo about a decade ago.
Began as a fan of camping in my 30's - was a Cub and Boy Scout as a kid - and then really jumped on board after a few years of building my camping gear inventory.
LSS. Was living in Florida at the time. Fresh off of my divorce. It was January. I got in my SUV. Drove to the mountains in northwestern North Carolina. Hiked about 3 hours from the vehicle and camped solo for 8 days at nearly 6,000 feet. Temps got down to the teens and single digits and it snowed a ton.
Haven't gone more than a week or two without randomly thinking about that trip. I would recommend a similar excursion for you all.
