hey! For makeup tips, less is more, in my opinion. I personally adore the french girl approach to makeup and effortless beauty, so I’d totally recommend watching violette_fr on youtube, she is one of the few “beauty gurus” who isn’t about selling you a new product launching and caking things on. Try and buy makeup products in colors that best suit your complexion, and, in my opinion, I find that it’s better to splurge on luxury products that I will use often instead of over-consuming and then not knowing which products to pick up out of my makeup bag. In my daily life, I use the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, YSL Tatouage Couture lip stain (my go-to red, shade 9), and Benefit Roller Lash mascara the most. Finding what colors and application techniques that work best for you is so much more important than owning popular products that your friends and every other girl online is purchasing.

As for dressing more feminine, the key is to find flowy silhouettes. I find that they evoke elegance and grace that are undoubtedly bound to femininity. Like I said, I definitely subscribe to the french girl aesthetics, and I found that in multiple interviews with french girls (from Alexa Chung’s channel or found in other fashion blogs), they mostly buy fewer clothes, but quality pieces. They also find what their man likes on them and find silhouettes that flatter them the most. The key to finding that is to just go out there and try things on. I’m not saying head into Neiman Marcus like a wealthy french girl does, but you have to go out wherever you go with feminine aesthetics in mind. I’m 21, and I definitely don’t have funds to drop on a brand new Reformation dress no matter how much it is calling my name. I mostly thrift pieces, and the pieces that I look for are all of quality fabrics in respect to the garment (ie looking for 100% cotton or linen for sundresses, avoiding polyester fast fashion nightmares from Forever 21 that were cheaply made and will make you sweat, etc), and I usually find great brands when I take a day to go thrift in wealthier areas. I’ve found many designer pieces this way. I am always on the hunt for things that make me look delicate or soft- this encompasses garment structure, colors, and garment types. I also sew or create many feminine silhouettes that look good on me if I can’t find them in stores. For example, I love the Reformation sundresses with square necklines and peasant sleeves, but I knew I couldn’t afford that, so I just made it myself. Obviously not every woman knows how to sew, but it definitely helps- plus, if you know your likes and dislikes, it’s easy to tailor garments that you pick up from thrift stores as well. Some fashion instagrams that inspire me are sailorvenusdemilo, saraloura, mypetite_frenchie, luciazolea, and orseund_iris, maybe they will inspire you, too!!

Acting more feminine works best with little steps that lead to major progress. Growing up, when I was in Catholic school, my teachers told us that it is kind and respectable to say please and thank you to the lunch ladies. I was a shy child, but I slowly began to say it to everyone who helped me, and have never stopped that behavior since. Similarly, just practice manners and having a gentle demeanor to everyone that you meet, and you’ll see your heart becoming more tender than it was before. I find that the most admirable women who exude femininity are those who are compassionate and polite, so I always try and emulate them.

I myself am working towards honing my femininity each day as well, and these are just a few of the tips that I’ve gathered. I find that self-discipline is very important in achieving holistic feminine energy. Take care of your body, monitor your diet and take care of yourself each day- wellness is vital in growing into who you are as a woman. Good luck angel, I hope this helped!

Oh hey! I’m a minor too.

For makeup— I was blessed with mediterranean skin that doesn’t blemish or break out, so I usually moisturize, apply BB cream, a concealer (I actually color match to my general face on concealer— a lot of people go lighter, but it makes me look like a clown) under my eyes, blush (watch Alexandra Anele’s video on blush placement) and a light reddish-purplish lip tint. I agree with little_wife that less is more.

You shouldn’t feel like you should force femininity— you have inner femininity. Just be polite and compassionate to others. When you doll yourself up in a nice dress, light makeup, etc, and feel the confidence, it WILL come naturally. We’re young. We’re beautiful. Just don’t come off as cocky. Naturally your femininity will grow with the help of some dresses/makeup, and i promise it won’t go unnoticed. I started caring about my appearance a while ago and displaying a sense of femininity and everyone was shocked to see me. It’s an instant nature change.

I’m allergic to makeup so can’t relate there, but I second that less is more.

The most important things for style however and feminine dressing, is well-fitted always looks good; not too loose not too tight.

Clothes that you don’t have to touch/readjust once they’re on: not having to pull necklines up or hemlines down every time you move is honestly the easiest way to look put together. Play with colour palettes like pastels or earth tones, my closet is mainly navy, black, white and gray, with a couple of pretty pastel things for spring for example but you do you of course. Neutrals + your favourite colour is a good rule of thumb and everything always matches which is a win/win. And lastly quality fabrics look so classy; cotton, wool, satin/silk blends, linen, all look and feel so much nicer and don’t stick or cling and they keep you a more regulated temperature in both winter and summer than polys, acrylics etc which are literally plastic. Also posture and hygiene are more important that anything else in style; practice good posture before your back makes you regret it and you’re crackly and sore mid twenties. It makes your clothes look good, it makes you look good, & helps tone your core.

As for your building your personal style my go to is pinterest 😍 Coco Channel (classics) is cliche for a reason she’s definitely a favourite.

Have fun and play with it; watch older films for inspiration, etc.

Fashion comes with finding yourself as you grow through each decade so definitely experiment and branch out and play in the fitting rooms before you buy and take lots of selfies for deciding while you have lunch (my method) .

Quality over quantity my friend, your skin, and wallet will thank you for it in the long run!
