Last week, on Christmas Eve, there was a discussion that made it to the top of the front page (with 9K+ comments) called "TIFU by buying everyone an AncestryDNA kit and ruining Christmas" I know I can't post links here, so you'll have to Search on it. I searched here and the main TRP no one has already discussed it.

In a nutshell, a guy bought several Ancestry DNA kits when they were on sale months ago, to give them to each member of his family for Christmas. Mom immediately freaks out and doesn't want anyone to use them. Arguing ensues with Dad, and there's concern that this could reveal some paternity issues.

The rest of the 9k+ comments have all sorts of similar stories. Although paternity testing has been around for years, we've reached a point where DNA testing is reaching wide consumer level acceptance, and it's having some interesting implications. The obvious TRP angle is that some women are being outed for getting pregnant while cheating and never telling the "father" that he's not the real baby daddy.

There are also stories of people seeing who shows up in "related" databases and finding previously unknown relatives that were the result of a variety of reasons. Also, the top comment is from a seemingly very white-knightish mod who is calling anyone who accuses women of cheating an "incel" and banning them. Whatever.
