So, to start off with, I am a female currently in my second year of college, and this thread has just blown me away. I am so glad I have found this, and am just astonished at how great a lot of this advice is. I recently have been having so many problems. Had a guy pass out drunk on the first date, another guy showed up 45 minutes late on the second and third date and joked about me being an "alcoholic" (because drinking at most once a week is SO weird in college), had one guy ghost me after ignoring me in public, and to put the cherry on top, I had another guy message me low effort messages all day every day (think "wyd", "HYD", "that's cool", "thanks lol", etc.) and then tell me the day before Christmas he wanted to be exclusive with another girl back home. All in the span of three months! And I realized I have been going through all of this because I am such a Pickmeisha.
To start off with, everything I do is for the sake of meeting guys. I cannot think of anything I do that is just for me. I workout and invest in makeup/skincare to look good for men (not for me), go to parties when I would rather be watching true-crime series while comfy in bed, go out of my way to talk to guys first and do sweet things for them, etc. All of my plans for my future and worries about my future revolve around marriage and men (I live in the midwest, so there are peers of mine already getting engaged/married/in very serious relationships), and how to optimize finding guys. Even when I am not that into a guy, I will go out with them out of fear that I may be missing out on the romance of a lifetime. I am also still a virgin at 19, so I feel like I am lacking behind a lot of my peers.
So I decided, with kickhimout2020 I am going to take that a step further. Kick all men out 2020. For the next 80 days (that is when I turn 20) I am going to focus on me and only me. No talking, dating, texting, none of it. Doing things because I want to, and not going out of my way to talk/be around guys. I am thinking of it as if it is a sugar cleanse. I am addicted to it, think about it all day, and give up my health for it. Even if the tallest, most handsome, and the most intelligent guy comes up to me the answer is no. I need to find comfort in being alone now and doing things for me because relationships and boys occupy way too much of my mind. I also feel really lost and clueless about the future, so I really do have bigger fish to fry. And the plan isn't to just go back to my past behaviors, but I just feel like I need designated time to be single and not think twice about boys.
This was a bit ranty, but I just wanted to put that out there and hear some of your thoughts. What is advice you guys have for younger women? What advice do you have for curbing pickmeisha tendencies? And for more mature women who are not in relationships/married, what has your experience been like? I really want children and fear dieing alone. I would love to hear some of your thoughts!
