So I’ve known this girl for 9 months. Started off as a plate, then eventually elevated to FWBs after like 4 months, and eventually elevated to exclusivity in terms of me not sleeping with new people after like 6 months. Finally after like 8 months I finally agreed to give an LTR a shot. And FYI she was always the one to push the relationship stuff, never me.

Anyway, after a rough start to LTR during a week where we couldn’t stop arguing (which was abnormal for us), I told her we should give eachother some space for a few days but that I “wasn’t planning on hooking up with anyone else.” She told me she’s sad but she’ll respect my need for space, and that she really likes me and hopes we can work it out.

Anyway, once I cleared my head, I told her I’m down to give it a shot again as long as the arguments don’t continue. After we made up or whatever, I later found out that during the first night after she agreed to give me some space, her friend tried to set her up with some guy at a bar and the two of them exchanged numbers and socials.

I prodded her on it by asking if she’s cool with me swapping socials / numbers with girls, and I said “cause if that’s what we’re doing, works for me. Just wanna know our boundaries.” I didn’t directly call her out but was hoping she’d own up to it. In more words, she basically said she trusts me to draw the line on what’s acceptable. When I asked if she’d be cool with me swapping numbers with a chick at a bar who is definitely DTF if the opportunity presented itself, she said she thinks that would be over the line. And asked me what I thought.

So I said it depends, would it be over the line if you did it? To which she replied of course it would. Up to this point, she never once owned up to what she did, so I started to up the dread game and add a few girls I’d been talking to on instragram. I think it was starting to bother her so she finally asked me what was up and what I was doing.

So I said look do I have to spell it out for you? I just want you to be honest with me. You tell me what’s up and then we can actually talk about this. So finally she admitted she swapped numbers with that guy, told me she thought it was inappropriate for her to do, but nothing happened and she just liked the attention because she felt like I didn’t want her. And she thought I said I wasn’t “planning” on hooking up with anyone else because I was trying to leave the door open to do it. And that she didn’t tell me bc she didn’t want me to break up with her.

She said I promise we didn’t hook up, and I’ll even send you the screenshot of the texts he sent me. Screenshot wasn’t anything too bad, although she didn’t directly turn him down and the dude said he was just looking for a kiss goodnight (no tongue), which she didn’t respond to. She could’ve deleted her response but the dude also mentions me, signifying she must’ve brought me up, even if it was in a negative light.

Once she owned up to it and said she knows it was inappropriate, I told her it’s not a deal breaker for me as long as she knows it was inappropriate going forward and she’s willing to be honest in the future. So my question is...was her behavior understandable given the fact I asked for space or should I back out and not proceed any further. I mean on the surface, not a huge deal, but I’m concerned she’d keep up her farce in the face of all evidence I knew what was up. What’re your thoughts? How did I handle this so far? Chicks gonna chick or that was too far on her part?
