You may or may not get good answers here. The ladies at RPW are looking for men who want marriage, serious commitment, and wish to be great husbands and fathers. Your sexual strategy and curiosity is not their sexual curiosity and focus.
You'll have better responses over at the AskTRP SubReddit.
Sounds as if you want sex - nothing wrong with that focus. But again - responses will develop better from TRP/AskTRP commenters.
Nice work on being a virgin - whether intentionally or by circumstance. I doing so, you managed to avoid many pitfalls and mistakes experienced by men in your age-range and young teenagers. Whatever you do – don’t disrupt or sabotage your future and always make good choices when it comes to women.

I will second that AskTRP is probably a better place for you. We focus on long term relationship on this sub.
But to answer your question, yes women really are that indirect. I can't speak to whether those women wanted to sleep with you right away, but they were likely interested in you, otherwise they wouldn't have made the effort to contact you.
